About 20 years ago, my nephew made the sweetest Christmas craft, gifting his mom, grandma and me the most adorable little hat ornament made of yarn. Since then it has been one of my all-time favorite Christmas ornaments, making me smile every year when I hang it on the tree. So, when we decided to decorate our first real family Christmas tree with homemade ornaments, I knew we HAD to make some hats of our own.
There are lots of great tutorials for yarn hat ornaments on Pinterest, but I found the step-by-step images on this one to be particularly helpful when leading four kids through the process of making their own! Even my 12-year-old son got in on the action with this one, without being coerced. (It’s a Christmas miracle!)
These were SO fun and easy to make! (Plus, they are a great craft for someone like me with TONS of scrap yarn lying around.) Here is our collection so far; my daughter keeps adding to it daily!
